If ever you needed another reason to love the beautiful Scottish city of Edinburgh, it could be thanks to its fantastic range of vegan restaurants. In fact, in recent polls, Edinburgh was voted the third most vegan-friendly city in the whole of the UK. Not only does it hold a volume of the best vegan restaurants around, but what we particularly love, is the friendliness and warm reception you receive from each one. Perhaps this is down to a generally friendly vegan community or the people of Edinburgh itself. We like to think of it as a combination of the two. But whatever the reason, we know you won’t be disappointed with the offerings of this city.
So we thought we would share our list of the best vegan restaurants in Edinburgh…according to us 🙂 There are of course many restaurants in Edinburgh that have great vegan secondary menus or inclusions to their menu. However, for clarity’s sake, we’ve stuck to purely vegan restaurants in our listing. If you’re ever near to the city, give them a try. We’d love to hear your thoughts.
Onto the best restaurants in Edinburgh…
Naked Bakery, Hill Street, EH2 3JZ
Starting with my personal favourite and one I never fail to visit each time we’re in the city (or even near it). Naked Bakery holds a special place in my heart because of its absolutely divine brunches and, its doughnuts. There I’ve said it. It’s the doughnuts. Other brunch/breakfast options include waffles with This Isn’t Bacon, avocado and beetroot hummus on toast, full Scottish breakfast or a delicious smoothie bowl. The menu is fab. Definitely take a look at the creative cakes they make, they’re beautiful and oh so colourful.

Novapizza, Howe Street, EH3 6TH
The first vegan Italian restaurant in Edinburgh, Novapizza is a must-visit during your stay. With a regular refresh of the menu, it’s a great place to go for fresh pasta, pizza, and delicious desserts such as chocolate cake, vanilla sundaes, or calzone vego.
We think this reviewer sums up Novapizza perfectly: “words don’t do them justice, you just have to go and try! highly recommend the carbonara and the oreo cheesecake is to die for.”

Beetroot Sauvage, 33-41 Ratcliffe Terrace, EH9 1SX
Beetroot Sauvage is a gorgeous vegan cafe and yoga hall. The team make their own cheese for the cafe and the coffee is blended by a neighbouring coffee specialist. It’s cute and friendly and perfect for a quick bite, a leisurely lunch or a catch up with friends style cup of tea. The menu is brunchy lunchy with a range of sandwiches, pancake stacks, cheese and fruit platters or a haggis roll. Save a bit of space for one of the epic Freakshakes or desserts on offer.

Seeds for the Soul, 167 Bruntsfield Place, EH10 4DG
Another stunning venue and the perfect setting for an all day feast. You can start with breakfast, such as pancakes, vegan eggs beny, or a full vegan breakfast. Followed by one of the delicious burgers, bowls or flatbread wraps for lunch or dinner. There are also specials, sides and some of the best cakes in the city! A truly inspiring and ambitious restaurant that wants to show the world just how amazing vegan food really can be. We love it here.

Sora Lella, 13a Brougham Street, EH3 9JS
Oh how we love Sora Lella. You will be stunned for choice from the gorgeous range of pasta and pizzas available. What we love is how traditional everything feels about this restaurant. Even down to the menus. Dishes include Quattro formaggi e mushroom pizza, gnocchi alla Sorentina, and parmigiana di melanzane. All so so good. Again, save space for one of the traditional desserts such as tiramisu or affogato al cafe.
As one reviewer commented: “We were so impressed by the food here, it absolutely blew us away.”
