East Japan Railway Introduces Vegan, Halal Sweets

East Japan Railway this week begins selling its new Halal and vegan sweet treat range.

The “Plant Based Sweets Series” contains no animal products or alcohol and is derived entirely from plant materials. This inclusive range has been created in collaboration with three popular confectionary companies: I’ll, Grapestone and Gateaux de Voyage.

According to the JR East Group, the new products allow them “to share delicious, high-quality food from Japan with people around the world.”

The treats in the series include:

  • Tokyo Campanella Brown, vegan French biscuits with layers of milk-free chocolate in between
  • Almond Caramel Sandwiches, a combination of roasted almonds and salted caramel filling wrapped in almond-scented dough
  • Las Olas Series, a collection of six products including Matha Green Tea biscuits and raspberry-powdered Boule de Rouge

The “Plant Based Sweets Series” can be found in front of Tokyo Station’s Tohoku, Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen South Transfer Gate, as well as in the Nomono Tokyo Store.
