American singer Melissa Viviane Jefferson, who is known as Lizzo, has announced she is now fully vegan to her 8.7 million followers on the social media platform TikTok.
While sharing a recipe for vegan scrambled eggs for hangover cravings, Lizzo said, “So being plant-based and vegan has been pretty easy except for when I am hungover, I used to crave cheesy eggs. So here is my substitute for cravings when you’re hungover.” The singer made the eggs using JUST egg, leftover vegan carne asada and black bean mixture from her Juneteenth celebration, vegan pepper jack cheese, spinach and seasoning and served with vegan bacon fried in maple syrup.
The singer revealed in 2017 that she had been vegetarian for seven years and even tried veganism for one year until returning to it this year. The Juice singer has used TikTok to share many of her plant-based recipes like her vegan ice cream bread using Ben & Jerry’s Netflix & Chilll’d non-dairy ice cream flavour. And her vegan take on McDonald’s McChicken sandwich, Jamaican patties and vegan fried chicken and biscuits.
Lizzo also celebrated Juneteenth with a variety of vegan foods catered by Black chefs and Black-owned restaurants. The singer shared her feast on TikTok that featured the carne asada, tacos and pasta from Plate of Hue, a vegan catering company owned by chef Stephan ‘Chefan’ Houston. While Lettuce Feast, a catering company in Los Angeles owned by Eva Cannon and Willie Perrymon, served chicken tenders, fries, saucy chicken sandwiches, and coleslaw the next day.
