Vegan brand Squeaky Bean are back with another launch of the UK’s first Spanish inspired plant-based Potato and Onion Tortilla. The tortilla is a take on the classic Spanish omelette that consists of egg, potato and onion. However, the company’s tortilla is egg-free, with chunks of potato and onion in a golden chickpea base.
The tortilla can be eaten straight from the pack or heated in the microwave, or frying pan. And the brand says the product is perfect for picnics, tapas-style dinners, served with fries and a tasty side salad, or as a summertime snack.
According to the company, their latest product is set to ‘fill a gap in the vegan market’ and will be a ‘plant-based replacement for the classic fried egg’.
Squeaky Bean’s Co-Creator, Sarah Augustine, said: “We know some consumers struggle to find ready-to-eat and easy-to-create vegan food options, which can often mean those new to eating a plant-based diet, or who want to reduce their intake of animal products, perceive it as challenging.
We also see a huge gap for egg replacement products, an area for which many of our consumers are craving tasty solutions.”
Last week, Squeaky Bean launched their Thai Marinated Chicken Style Pieces in Tesco and debuted their vegan pancakes in Waitrose a few months prior.
The Squeaky Potato & Onion Tortilla is now available in 90 Sainsburys stores.
