Study reveals the best value vegan meal boxes in the US and UK

Latest News

A new study by Top Dollar has revealed the best value vegan meal boxes in the US and the UK, showing the meal subscription services with the most valuable ingredients.

With a meal subscription box ( which functions similarly to a 3D printer for restaurant-style home cooking), you simply enter your preferences into your computer, pay your fees, and wait for a weekly recipe box to arrive with precise ingredients for you to calmly piece together.

However, some recipes are more expensive than others. Which is perhaps why Top Dollar opened the box to see what really comes with your subscription, comparing the meal boxes in the United States and the United Kingdom that cost the least and provide the most value when compared to purchasing the ingredients separately.

According to the study,

  • The best value subscription box in the US is provided by EveryPlate, with a price difference of $12.76 between the ingredients and the cost of the box. Green Chef offers the best vegan deal with a difference of $55.44.
  • The US meal subscription boxes with the most valuable ingredients is the non-vegan box from Blue Apron, whose contents add up to a value of $39.68. Following closely behind is the vegan box by Purple Carrot with a value of $38.52.
  • The non-vegan box from Mindful Chef in the UK includes ingredients totaling €27.22. Following closely behind with a value of €26.62 is the vegan box from Riverford.
  • The subscription box in the UK which provides the best value is Hello Fresh UK, with a price difference of €13.14 between the subscription box and the supermarket ingredients it’s made up of. The best value vegan offering is from Riverford, which has a price difference of €23.18.
